Every March we have a run of the same conversations

Every March we have a run of the same conversations.

“We took on two more staff in the autumn, is that alright”

“I bought the van back in January, can I claim it?”

“We’ve bought the cottage next door, should it have gone in the company?”

“We’ve taken quite a bit out of the business this year. Is that a problem?”

They are all good questions. They’re just being asked about eight months too late.

By March the decision has been made. The van has been bought. The money has gone out. All we can do at that point is work out what it cost you. That’s he honest difference between an accountant who files your return and an accountant who works alongside you through the year. The first one tells you what happened. The second one helps you decide what happens next.

Think about the difference between:

  • A set of accounts that turns up nine months after your year end, and numbers you actually see while you can still do something with them
  • Finding out your tax bill in January and having a good idea of it by the previous summer
  • Filing a return and having someone to ring before you sign anything

If you run a limited company, employ people, farm, or hold a few properties, your affairs have more moving parts than a once-a-year tax return can keep up with. You’ve probably already felt that.

We look after more than 200 clients across Powys, Shropshire and Mid & North Wales, and the ones who get the most out of us are the ones who pick up the phone before they do the thing, rather than after.

So if you’ve got a question you’ve been saving up for March, ask it now. Send us a message and let’s have a proper conversation about what year-round support would look like for your business.
